Pengzhou in Sichuan province has published a document on accelerating the development of village resort hotels for the reconstruction of village hotels after last year's May 12 earthquake.
The development of village hotels will mainly focus on the three areas and eco-agricultural tourism. The three areas are Jianjiang Valley featuring state-level scenic spots, peonies, cold-water fish, hot springs, and organic vegetables; Bailu Valley featuring French style and earthquake remains; and Tuxi Valley featuring Lianhua Lake and clay pottery. The city will build 64 village hotels in three years at 50 destinations in three batches.
The government will arrange funds to support local tourism development. For star-rated village hotels that has been recommended by the country, Sichuan province and Chengdu, the government will grant a one-time award of 50,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan?and 10,000 yuan, respectively. Travel agencies that have organized over 2,000 tourists to stay in Pengzhou's star-rated village hotels will also get rewards.
