The first China regimen food festival was held in Pingdu, the largest county-level city under the jurisdiction of Qingdao, Shandong, on Oct 27 and 28.
Organized by the China Cuisine Association, the event took on the theme of warm hospitality and delicious cuisine in Shandong. A celery plantation served as the main venue. An agricultural museum and the Huaxi Hotel served as sub-venues.
The two-day event included a regimen food contest, a farm produce trade fair, and a regimen gourmet food forum.
25 local chefs and 15 from the rest of the country took part in the cooking contest, covering eight major Chinese cooking styles.
Some 30 experts participated in the regimen gourmet food forum. 50,000 local residents and tourists enjoyed the activities.
The event attracted 280 buyers from across the country. In total contracts worth 102 million yuan were signed, according to Li Hucheng, mayor of Pingdu.
