Qingdao tourism authority launched a month-long campaign with a theme of “tourism for better life” at the Maogong Mountain scenic site in Chengyang district on Nov 1.
The program has been expanded from previous iterations to target all domestic tourists while maintaining a focus on special groups in the city.
100 volunteers from the districts of Shinan, Shibei, and Licang were invited to free bus tours around Maogong Mountain and the ancient city of Jimo on the day of the launch of the program.
People with disabilities, children from underprivileged families, sanitary workers, and empty nesters were covered in the program. Representatives of these groups were invited to tour various scenic sites.
The program also aims to promote exchange between rural and urban residents by organizing rural tours for urbanites and urban tours for rural residents on a weekly basis.
The program also tapped the internet to widen the coverage of its benefits by offering thousands of free tickets for scenic sites during the online shopping spree on Nov 11, known as the Single’s Day.
