The Israeli military says its warplanes struck an arms manufacturing facility and two tunnels leading into Gaza.
Thursday's air strike was a response to Palestinian rocket fire into Israel. So far there are no casualty reports. The targeted tunnels were used to bring in food, livestock and other goods from Egypt into Gaza. But the Israeli military claims militants use the tunnels to smuggle weapons.
Israel's military says that since the last winter offensive in Gaza, Palestinians have fired more than 250 rockets and mortar shells into Israel. Israel has also carried out a number of air strikes since then.
