The period embracing the three major holidays of Christmas, New Year and Spring Festival is the high season for China's film industry. One of this year's features is the star-studded film The Treasure Hunter. Today let's take a closer look of the adventure set in China's wild west.
In a northwestern desert where countless prosperous dynasties rose and fell, there is rumored to be buried a treasure of unbelievable wealth. Jay Chou and Lin Chi Ling embark on a quest to protect the ancient treasure from an international crime group. They are supported by renowned mainland actor Chen Daoming, young actress Miao Pu and Hong Kong veteran Eric Tsing.
It's Lin Chi Ling's second attempt to lead a period film. Lin takes the challenge of the new role Lan Ting, daughter of an archeologist, an opposite to the previous beautiful, sweet and tender character Xiaoqiao in the blockbuster Red Cliff.
Lin Chi Ling, Actress of The Treasure Hunter, said, "When I first saw Chu He and Miao Pu filming the Kungfu part, and Jay Chou as well, I really admired them. I found it was not an easy job. A two or three minute shot might need one week to finish. However, I didn't realize how hard it was until I filmed the action part myself. The Kungfu director Siu-Tung Ching is strict with every movement. It's really tough."
Creating a stunning action performance is the leading actor Jay Chou. As a Kungfu lover, Chou has shown his skill in his 2008 hit Kungfu Dunk which was also under the helm of director Zhu Yanping.
