Germany is experiencing a similar situation. Cold weather caused disruption on roads, public transport and at airports.
Around 100 departures and arrivals were cancelled at Frankfurt airport.
Passenger, Frankfurt Airport, said, "We've just come here and landed from Miami. And it will take a while now. We will see what will happen next."
The weather service says freezing temperatures will continue throughout the country for the rest of the week.
In the southern hemisphere, heavy rains caused severe flooding in Peru. Landslides have killed two people and displaced hundreds more in the center of the country. Mudslides also damaged roads and rail lines in many provinces.
