Nearly two years after the Sichuan earthquake, people are rebuilding their homes and schools with help from around the country. |
A new primary school rises from the rubble of the old one. Its construction is the focus of plenty of attention.
A parent said, "I came here from time to time as the school was being constructed. I care a lot about the quality of the construction. Our children lives and our families' happiness are hanging on that."
The man in charge of the project, Wang Dasheng, is fully aware of that. He is from Tangshan city, Hebei province. The city was devastated by a strong earthquake more than 30 years ago.
Wang Dacheng, Commander of Nanba Primary School Project, said, "Earthquake survivors definitely have certain psychological problems after going through such a big disaster. We fully understand that. So we are trying everything to ensure our projects are one hundred percent safe. "
Parents and teachers were special supervisors of the project. They were allowed to go to the construction site anytime they want. Helpers from Hebei province are also assisting locals to build new homes.
A villager in Pinggu County said, "Before the earthquake, our houses were old and scattered. Now, our new homes are formed. Transportation is good and public facilities like schools are much better. "
Reconstruction work goes on and with help from all over the country, the quake zone is taking on a brand new face.
