Interest in the Lunar New Year continues to grow throughout the world. James Kim takes us to Germany and the US, to see how overseas Chinese and local residents are celebrating the occasion.
Celebrations were held at the Berlin Central Railway Station to usher in the Year of the Tiger. Tens of thousands of Germans have been watching Chinese performances during the past three days.
Local resident, Berlin, said, "I like all the performances very much. I watch Chinese new year celebrations every year. Its really exciting."
Student in Berlin said, "The fireworks are so beautiful. They reminded me of the days when I was in China. The performances there were extravagant and the fireworks were so beautiful."

In Washington DC, Americans and overseas Chinese celebrated the Lunar New Year together. The festival has now become an important platform to showcase China's culture, providing Americans with a better understanding of the country's traditions.
Local resident in Washington said, "Firecrackers all day long, all the evening ... rouge and lipstick."

More and more Americans are taking an interest in the Lunar New Year. The US Mint has been issuing Lucky Money every year since 2002. In New York State, Spring Festival is now a legal holiday. Activities in Chinese communities in the US, has provided a window for better understanding between the two cultures.
