Director Xu Jinglei and lead actor Stanley Huang were on hand to promote Xu's latest movie "Du Lala's Promotion", on the day the film's website was launched. Xu also plays the heroine in the film, an ordinary girl rising in the ranks of the company she works for.
"Du Lala's Promotion" is adapted from a recent Chinese best seller. It tells an inspiring story about a ordinary staff member of a company, through her hard work, rises in the ranks, and gains success.
Every March and April is when Chinese companies enroll new members and college students seek work through various job markets. A film like this will be a shot in the arm for those who inspire to get a good job, or aim to climb the corporate ladder.
The film has been a commercial success, with numerous products related to the movie selling quite well. Although the film hasn't been released, the director says a sequel is on the way.
Xu Jinglei, director, said, "I'm indeed preparing for a sequel. The storyline has been out since before Spring Festival. But I'm not sure if Karen Mok and Stanley Huang will perform in it, although I hope they will. I was really happy being involved in this film. One reason is I'm more mature now, than during the previous three flicks I directed. The other reason is that the entire crew got along very well. We were very happy in the process."
"Du Lala's Promotion" is Xu's brand new work, four years after she directed and acted in "Dreams May Come" in 2006. Here she plays alongside Stanley Huang, who is her love interest. The film began shooting last July. It will be screened April 15th across the country.
