A baby elephant that experts believe had died during labor has been blessed by Thai monks in Australia. His name is Pathi Harn, which means miracle in Thai.
The calf was hailed a miracle when he was born at Sydney's Taronga Zoo on March 10th, nine days into a difficult labor. He was nicknamed Mister Shuffles for his early walking attempts.
The Thai Consul General in Australia says the miracle will become another part of the Thai legacy in the country. About 10 thousand voters chose the name in poll of seven.
Pathi Horn is the third elephant to be born in an Australian zoo. His mother was brought from Thailand in 2008.
