European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, accompanied by a delegation of around 50 EU Commission officials, has arrived in Beijing to begin a three-day official visit to China.
He met Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the People's Hall on Thursday. Discussions focus on China-EU relations, climate change, and the global financial crisis.
Premier Wen said China and EU would periodically hold ministerial talks on the topic, so as to strengthen cooperation and deepen mutual understanding on the issue.
He said China will develop sustainable strategic relationship with EU.European Commission President Barroso said China's development is key to China-EU cooperation.
He said EU is also eager to deepen mutual trust and understanding on international issue with China.
