Premier Wen Jiabao held a meeting on Saturday to discuss reconstruction work in the quake-hit Yushu, in northwest China's Qinghai province. He stressed that looking after local residents is his main priority, and says the government is doing its utmost on relief and reconstruction work.
Premier Wen has acknowledged the achievements and hard work being done by relief workers in the Yushu County. At Saturday's meeting, he said the focus of the next period would be reconstruction and future development planning. He said the standard of living in the quake-hit Yushu would eventually return to normal and even be better than before.
Premier Wen also visited Fangcang Hospital in Gyegu Town and inspected the medical work being done there. He then visited villagers at Longbao Town and encouraged them to fight together through these difficult times.
Wen Jiabao said, "We feel the warmth of our big family infront of the big disaster. We feel the precious spirit of all ethnic groups. I believe that as long as we unite together we can overcome the disaster!"
During his tour, Premier Wen Jiabao also walked around the temporary hospital at Yushu's gymnasium and visited earthquake victims and medical workers there.
On Sunday morning, the Premier paid his condolences to the quake victims before a collapsed primary school.
