Coming soon to a theatre near you, if you're in China that is, will be the first ever domestically-made 3-D cartoon. Entitled "The Dream of Jinsha", the feature recently released its trailer at the China International Animation Festival in Hangzhou, and promises to add more fuel to the current craze for 3-D animation.
"Dream of Jinsha" is the first 3D China-made cartoon production to be released nation-wide. The central character is middle-school student Xiao Long, who by accidentally travels back in time to an ancient Chinese Kingdom some thirty-five hundred years ago. That's where his uncanny adventure begins.
It took the production team five years to finish the 80-million-Yuan-budget animation. Over 12 hundred shots were transferred from 2D to 3D in the picture's post production phase.
Su Xiaohong, Producer, said, "Our production team covers various generations from the 70s to the 90s."
"Dream of Jinsha" has been invited to participate in the Cannes Film Festival in later May.
The cartoon picture will hit cinemas across the country in July.
