From January next year, China is expected to ban smoking in all indoor public places including offices and in public vehicles. It's great news for non-smokers who are sick of inhaling second hand smoke.
The Ministry of Health said at least half of the country's medical institutions and health administrations will take the lead to become smoke-free zones by the end of this year.
The Ministry has also encouraged civil servants to quit smoking. For those who can kick the habit for a year, they'll receive a 500 yuan bonus. But, for those who violate the indoor smoking ban, the Ministry says they will face punishment.
