Uruguay won the World Cup in 1930 and 1950, and squeezed through to the last four this year, after a penalty shoot-out with Ghana. The Uruguayans will appear in the semi-final for the first time in 40 years when they face the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Sebastian "El Loco" Abreu, Uruguay Striker, said, "...We still have one more match to go to the final. The Netherlands are a hard opponent, a fast one, very strong physically. And also, they have very skilful players. We have to play the way we have been doing so far, game-by-game, in a calm way..."

Uruguay defender and captain Diego Lugano damaged a right knee ligament against Ghana. He is struggling to be fit for the semi-final.
