European grocery shelves may soon be invaded by camel milk. Promoters of the unusual product from the United Arab Emirates say it's a healthy alternative.
The European Commission recently approved plans to screen camel milk for export to Europe. An EU panel will be sent to inspect the UAE's two dairy farms producing camel milk. The UAE is leading the effort to get the milk certified, hoping health benefits like low cholesterol and high levels of vitamin C will make camel milk a popular choice for European consumers.
