A major 7.3 magnitude aftershock to an earlier earthquake shook the Philippines on Saturday morning local time, the United States Geological Survey reported on its website.
The quake occurred at 6:08 a.m. local time on Saturday.The epicenter is at a depth of around six hundred kilometers, and is about 100 kilometers away from Cotabato, Mindanao and 915 km away from the capital Manila.The USGS previously said the aftershock had a magnitude of 7.5.
The USGS has initial quake that preceded the aftershock had a magnitude of 6.9.The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the aftershock did not generate a destructive tsunami in the region.
