A title fight for China in Hong Kong. The team went after championship in the 2010 Women's Volleyball World Grand Prix on Sunday, and faced a stubborn opponent from the United States.
The gold-medal game was tied at 4-all early in the first set, before the Americans took the lead and pulled away. The US increased its advantage to 16-11 before the second technical time out. China cut the deficit but lost the set, 25-20.
The Chinese women kept struggling in the second set, and put themselves in a 2-sets-to-none hole going into the third. That set up an exciting third set. China launched a strong comeback to lead it 5-1 off the start.
But the Americans climbed back with points in a row to lead 16-10 at the second technical time out. Chinese star Wang Yimei finally started to dominate at the net and China managed to take the set 25-22.
Both teams battled hard in the fourth set, and left it tied at 21-all late, but it was the US side that held on for the 25-22 victory and the championship title over China.
