Heavy rain-triggered floods have isolated Dandong city in Northeast China's Dandong city, Liaoning province. Helicopters have become an essential transportation tool in the rescue operation.
The massive floods have affected more than 76 townships and counties in Dandong, which borders the DPRK. Local authorities have made more than 30 helicopter flights to evacuate residents and send in relief materials.
So far more than 250-thousand residents have been relocated. Meanwhile, in central China's Hubei province, continuous rainstorms have raised the level of the Han River. The Dan-jiang-kou Dam has opened its four flood gates to discharge water for the second time this summer.
