Bill Gates and Warren Buffett say they will come to China to share their experiences on charity, denying previous speculation that they would pressure Chinese billionaires to donate to their fund-raising efforts.
The two richest Americans have invited about 50 Chinese entrepreneurs to a banquet on September the 29th. Gates and Buffett have launched the "Giving Pledge" project to persuade US billionaires to give most of their fortune to charities.
While many people suspected they are coming to China to urge wealthy Chinese to follow suit, they have explained in a letter that the trip to China is "fundamentally about learning, listening and responding to those who express an interest in our experience".
