China has again urged Japan to unconditionally release the Chinese trawler captain, who was illegally detained by Japan's coast guard, in order to avoid further damages to bilateral ties.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Jiang Yu also warned against any attempts, to deceive international public opinion, regarding the issue. Jiang, said the Diaoyu Islands, have been part of China's territory, since ancient times.
She called the detention, and the possible application of Japanese law TO the Chinese captain, a severe violation and flagrant challenge to China's territorial sovereignty.
She added, that Japan's move, has aroused strong indignation among the Chinese people, and severely undermined bilateral ties with China. She said, it was only natural that China would take a necessary response.
