U.S.-S. Korea naval drill enters 3rd day

The joint naval drill between South Korea and the United States has entered the third day.
On Monday, the American nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, USS George Washington, conducted air readiness drills near the disputed maritime border of the west coast of the Korean peninsula.
The main focus of the second day's drills was on air defense and surface warfare exercises. The scenario included an aircraft from the George Washington launching an attack on a hypothetical enemy after the South Korean guided-missile Aegis destroyer, Sejong the Great, requested support.
On the same day, South Korean President, Lee Myung-bak, met the US military's top commander in the region, General Walter Sharp. Lee thanked US President, Barack Obama, for his support in holding the joint naval exercises.
The meeting came as South Korea's military said that new artillery drills planned for the front-line island targeted in last week's bombardment by the DPRK, had been postponed just hours after they were announced.
