Every bride and groom would like to have a good wedding. So, how about a "McWedding" complete with french fries and apple pies? Starting in January, McDonalds is offering the full wedding ceremony and banquet in a special wedding area. And NO, it's not in Las Vegas. It's all across Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, there's an increasing trend of young Cantonese couples celebrating their big day in non-conventional venues such as hotels and Chinese restaurants.
McDonald's is one of their new favorites. Service will of course, always be delivered with a smile. But since only items from the McDonald's menu can be served, guests can toast the happy couple with a large cola or chocolate milkshake.
For the bride and groom, they will be able to choose from an array of McDonald's inspired decorations to adorn the restaurant. And they can even opt for an apple pie wedding cake and special McDonald's wedding bands.
Managing director of McDonald's, Hong Kong, Shirley Chang, says many couples are choosing McDonald's because this is the place where they met.
Shirley Chang, Managing Director of McDonald's Restaurants, Hong Kong, said, "Chinese traditional banquets are more like a convention, but in McDonald's, it's more casual and really cosy and a lot of young people actually met each other here. I think that's the main reason for them to spend their special moment here."
And with typical wedding costs spiraling out of control, the McDonald's bride and groom will have no need to worry.
The package including apple pie wedding cake, a balloon bouquet, and balloon rings comes to about 1,300 US Dollars.
Whether you're looking for that "wow" effect or the old familiar feelings, you can book your own "McWedding" in Hong Kong starting in January.
