A coal mine in southwest China's Guizhou Province has been flooded, trapping eight miners.
The flooded mine in Panxian County, lies about 330 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang. 45 miners were working when the accident occurred at about 7 p.m. Sunday local time. Thirty-seven miners escaped safely.
Rescuers are currently pumping out the more than 1,000 cubic meters of water in the mine. At the time of the accident, the mine had all required licenses and certificates for safe production. An investigation is still underway.
