The 2011 Summer Davos forum will be held from September 14th to 16th in Dalian, a port city on China's east coast. The theme of this year's meeting is "Mastering Quality Growth". About 1,500 participants from 90 countries and regions are expected to participate in the forum.
China's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission is one of the major players attending this year's forum. The NDRC says Summer Davos provides the ideal platform for business leaders and officials from around the world to discuss and seek ways to deal with the complex economic environment.
Li Haiyan, director of Int'l Cooperation Dept. of NDRC said, "We can confirm there are eight current and former politicians, and 19 ministers from around the world who will take part in the forum."
This year's Summer Davos focuses on a new business matrix: pursuing new growth frontiers, shaping future business models and policies, embracing disruptive innovation and sustaining a creative and entrepreneurial culture.
Jeremy Jurgens, Senior director of Global Growth Companies of WEF said, "It is very important to pay attention to quality growth, especially the elements which made up of such growth. We have to ensure no matter what we do to maintain the sustainable growth. Judging from the current situation, the over-heating growth will not last long."
The meeting in Dalian will feature an intensive and interactive three-day programme which provides a systemic overview of key economic, industry and technological developments that are reshaping consumer behavior, business models and financial markets.
Dalian previously held the event in 2007 and 2009, and this year is the third time the city will play host.
