The BRICS summit is going to be held in New Delhi, India on March the 28th and the 29th. In the lead up to the Summit we will be introducing to you the five countries that make up the bloc of key emerging nations - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Now, Let's take a look at Brazil, the largest country in South America. Brazil is the world's fifth largest country, both by geographic area and by population, with more than 192 million people. It is the largest national economy in Latin America, and has just overtaken the UK to become the world's sixth largest economy at market exchange rates, and the eighth largest in purchasing power parity.
Brazil has a mixed economy with abundant natural resources. Its economy has been predicted to become one of the five largest in the world in the decades to come. It has large and developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing and service sectors, as well as a large labor pool.
Trade between China and Brazil is growing rapidly. Last year, Brazil's exports to China reached 44.3 billion US dollars, up 43.9% year on year.
