Begun in 1983, the international modelling contest - the Elite Model Look, has launched the careers of many supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen. This year, the contest's 29th edition came to Shanghai and unveiled the results on Saturday.

65 contestants from across the globe gathered at the Shanghai Cultural Square in China's financial hub to compete in the prestigious modelling finals.
Given that the annual Elite Model Look is one of the largest modelling competitions and has discovered names such as Cindy Crawford and Stephanie Seymour, all the contestants were excited to be taking part.
Victoria Boninger,Elite Model Look finalist, said, "Well, I'm really, really excited for tonight. I'm not nervous but I'm very happy because we've all been very patient and we've been waiting for this very long, and everybody has worked very hard. Not only the models, but also the people preparing the stage, and the show. I mean, it's a big show with many, many people involved, and I just want to have a good show and rock the stage."

More than 2,000 people showed up to cheer for the 60 finalists, who took to the catwalk modeling a variety of clothes.
In the end, France's Marilhea Peillard clinched the crown of the Elite Model Look 2012, scooping a three-year modeling contract with the Elite agency.
Marilhea Peillard,Elite Model Look winner, said, "I am very happy, I can't believe this has happened to me. It's true that I had a dream to win a contest one day and I am very happy to have achieved this dream. I would like to call my family to tell them the good news."
Romanian finalist Lorena Sandu was in second place, along with Chilean contestant Trinidad De la Noi, while Manuela Frey from Switzerland took third place.
