The Chinese ambassador to Syria has met with international envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, who is Damascus for talks with officials and opposition figures.

Ambassador, Zhang Xun, met Brahimi on Wednesday. They agreed the situation in Syria is very dangerous and there is an urgent need for a political solution. After the meeting, Zhang Xun held a news conference.

Zhang Xun, Chinese Ambassador to Syria, said, "China is calling on all parties to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis and we will continue coordinating with and supporting Brahimi's mission. We also hope that all international parties will make all necessary efforts to find that political solution."
