A major animation blockbuster is landing in China. The latest Pixar prequel "Monsters University" has racked up over 500 million US dollars worldwide, and now it hopes to replicate that success here in China.
Twelve years after they charmed audiences and critics alike, Mike and Sulley are back on the big-screen in "Monsters University."
In Pixar’s first ever prequel, we join the two loveable lunks from "Monsters, Inc" as first year college students, adapting to life away from home, studying intensely and creating new friendships.
Dan Scanlon, Director, "Monsters University", said, "We just thought ’whatever we do we want to do something that delves into the relationship of Mike and Sully this time’ and that’s where the idea of a prequel came up. Why don’t we then meet them when they met, and then college fun we were like ’we have to do this’."
The movie took five years to complete with a tremendous team of actors. They include Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Helen Mirren.
Helen Mirren, Actress, said, "The character that eventually appears...who come in and visualize it."
"Monsters University" teaches the audience to have faith in their destiny, despite the curve balls life throws at them.
An inspiring and entertaining film for the whole family, the movie held a charity advanced screening in Beijing on Thursday.
As one of the most anticipated animations to hit China this year, analysts believe the prequel will be a huge success over the weekend, as it officially hits theatres on Friday.
