Eight people have been killed as dozens of tornadoes hav swept across the US midwest.
Illinois has been the hardest hit, with at least six people killed, including an 80-year-old man and his 78-year-old sister. Dozens more are reported injured.
Authorities say two other deaths are in Michigan. The powerful winds have flattened entire neighbourhoods, flipped over cars and uprooted trees. The Illinois governor said on Monday that the search for people trapped in the rubble was still going on.
Illinois Emergency Management Agency has said rescuers have just one field left to search in the hard-hit town of Washington. Between 250 and 500 homes have been either damaged or destroyed in the town. It’s unclear when residents would be allowed to return.
