It is day eight of the World Cup in Brazil, and England was looking to record its first victory of the tournament against Uruguay in Group D. Instead, it was the South Americans who grabbed the crucial three points, winning the match 2-1.
Uruguay took the lead a few minutes before half-time thanks to a header from Liverpool’s controversial star striker Luis Suarez. In the second half, England equalized through Wayne Rooney, who recorded his first ever World Cup goal.
But late on, Suarez raced through to score the winner that almost ended England’s hopes of reaching the next round.
