After a Spring-Festival boom in big-budget domestic films, China's box-office has been largely reliant on foreign movies for its revenues in March. Disney's new animated film, "Zootopia", is out in front, earning almost a billion yuan in just two weeks since its March 4 release.
At this rate, it may surpass the takings for "Kung Fu Panda 3" and the domestic film, "Monkey King: Hero is Back". Two other foreign movies making their China debut are "Eddie the Eagle", and "The Revenant", for which actor Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar.
Meanwhile, domestic film-makers have offered smaller-budget movies such as "Judge Archer" and "She remembers, He forgets".
