U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has raised more than 100 million dollars in campaign contributions for the second consecutive month, beating President Barack Obama for the third straight month.
The Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) say they netted more than 101 million dollars in July, dwarfing the 75 million dollars collected by the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for the same month.
Romney's fundraising numbers in July were shy of the 106 million he raised in June, but it nevertheless boosted his cash on hand to nearly 186 million. The Obama campaign has not released their cash on hand figure.
The Obama camp is facing severe headwinds as it continues to be outraised by the Romney campaign and the RNC. Conservative outside groups are also sinking big money into defeating Obama, while liberal outside groups are having trouble raising meaningful amounts of money.
