Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin Wednesday urged the role of the Group of 20 summit in tackling the global financial crisis and improving world economic management.
They said in a joint communique inked following a regular meeting on Tuesday that the G20 summit should support international cooperation and promote the reform of the international financial system.
They proposed the G20 summit, which involves leaders of major world economies, increase the representativeness and voice of developing countries and transforming economies in the global financial system.
China and Russia will also boost cooperation within other multilateral frameworks such as the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) for the establishment of a fair and comprehensive new international economic and financial order, said the communique released Wednesday.
The two countries also voiced objection against trade and investment protectionism in any form.
