Pakistani security forces killed 38 militants in an operation in the frontier region of Peshawar, the capital city of North West Frontier Province ( NWFP), the army said Wednesday.
Commandant of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary Sifwat Ghayoor told a media briefing that huge numbers of weapons were also recovered during the military operation.
Ghayoor said that the terrorists use this area to launch missile attacks from Peshawar. He said that one soldier was killed in the military assault.
Frontier region is a semi-tribal area that borders Peshawar. Taliban militants have hideouts in the region and terrorists are using this area to plot attacks on the government officials and installations. Pakistani security forces have launched several military operations in the past to wipe out the Taliban bastions.
