The Communist Party of China (CPC) will host a first-ever China-Europe High-Level Political Party Forum in Beijing from May 24-25, according to a news release of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Europe diplomatic ties, the news release said.
The aim of the forum is to enhance political and strategic dialogue, and expand areas of cooperation through dialogues between political parties of China and Europe.
China hoped the forum would promote the China-Europe relationship to be a model partnership of mutual respect, friendly co-existence, win-win cooperation and common development between the different social systems and development patterns, it said.
The forum, with the theme of Global Challenges and China-European Cooperation, will discuss issues related to post-crisis reform in the international economic and financial system and global governance, climate change and environmental protection, and China-European relations and the importance of political party cooperation in such relations.
Leaders representing three regional political parties of Europe, major political party groups in the European Parliament, as well as high-ranking officials of major political parties in some European countries will attend the forum.
