The Gaza-bound international aid flotilla violence is a "premeditate" event, Israeli Vice Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said in a press conference on Monday.
"We found weapons aboard the ship for use against the soldiers, " Ayalon said, adding that the behavior of the flotilla was "an act to break the blockade on Gaza."
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed earlier in the day that more than ten peace activists of the Gaza-bound aid flotilla were killed during clash with Israeli navy troops early Monday morning.
Four Israeli soldiers were also injured in this deadly showdown between the Jewish state and pro-Palestinian campaigners, IDF added.
Ayalon told reporters in the press conference that Israel holds the non-governmental groups organizing the flotilla and Hamas responsible for the clash, adding that "Israel regrets the loss of lives."
The six-vessel convoy, aiming at focusing world attention on the plight of the Gazans, consists of more than 10,000 tons of aid, stationery, medical supplies and construction materials as well as hundreds of peace activists from over 40 countries.
