Iraq's new parliament opened its first session on Monday, more than three months after the March 7 parliamentary elections.

Legislator Fuad Masum opened the first session at about 11:15 a. m. (0815 GMT) which is seen as a protocol one. New lawmakers will take the oath in the presence of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions to Baghdad.
