A man travelling on a Canadian passport was arrested Tuesday in Cyprus on suspicion of being involved in a spy case investigated in the United States.
Cypriot police said Robert Christofers Metsos, 55, was suspected of being the 11th member of a U.S. spy ring allegedly working for Russia. He was arrested as he was about to board an early-morning flight bound for Budapest, Hungary.
Police said the arrest was made under an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol at the request of U.S. authorities.
Metsos was later released on a bail and will be extradited.
