Taliban militants have killed one U. S. soldier and is holding another in a secret place after their abduction on Friday, a Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed on Sunday.
"One of the U.S. soldiers was killed after entering in Charkh district of Logar province and another is alive and in Taliban captivity," Mujahid told Xinhua via telephone from undisclosed location.
He also stressed that Taliban fighters had taken both - body of the dead soldier and the alive one to a safe and secret location.
Two U.S. soldiers went missing on Friday in Logar province 60 km south of Afghan capital Kabul and Taliban on Saturday claimed of responsibility for their abduction.
Mujahid also said that Taliban leadership would decide about the fate of the dead and alive soldiers. He also said that the Taliban leadership would take decision on their possible exchange with Taliban detainees held in government detention centers.
