DPRK calls on all Koreans to oppose war

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday called on all Koreans to unite and to oppose war and keep peace, the official news agency KCNA reported.
According to the KCNA, the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea issued "a letter to all fellowmen" at Pyongyang.
The letter said a war on the peninsula was on the verge of breaking out. All Koreans should decisively "foil foreign forces' moves for aggression and interference and resolutely defend the sovereignty and dignity of the nation."
The letter appeals for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, as it was the only way to be followed by the Korean people and there can be peace, reunification and prosperity only when the declarations are implemented."
The two declarations on advancing peace and reunification were signed by DPRK and South Korea following summits in 2000 and 2007, respectively.
The letter also calls on all Koreans to greet 2012 as a historic year of opening the gate to national reunification.
If South Korea insisted on igniting a war, the DPRK would "make a clean sweep of the group of traitors to the nation" through "a powerful and decisive counteraction" and achieve the national reunification, the letter warned.
The letter was issued two days ahead of the 65th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.
