The unification of the Korean Peninsula should be achieved in a peaceful way, the official Rodong Sinmun newspaper of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said in a commentary on Tuesday.
The north and the south should deepen understanding and trust between them through dialogue and negotiation. A reasonable solution to unification should be found through the same means, said the paper.
The north and the south should closely cooperate with each other in their efforts to put an end to their hostile relations and ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula, it added.
The two sides should settle all issues arisen in improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving the reunification through dialogue and negotiation, the commentary said.
The DPRK will persist in settling the issues of inter-Korean relations with the three principles of national reunification -- reconciliation, cooperation and reunification to overcome the difficulties on the way to unification, the commentary stressed.
