More than 1,000 police will be deployed in areas where the red-shirt plans to hold a rally on Friday, police spokesman said on Thursday.
Metropolitan police spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo said four companies of police, totaling 1,102 personnel would be deployed in the operation.
The anti-government protesters earlier confirmed that the red- shirts will gather at the Democracy Monument about 5 p.m. local time to hold activities in remembrance of the passing of eight months since the anti-government rally at Phan Fa Bridge and to mark the 78th year of the constitution on Friday which is the Thai Constitution Day.
The Phan Fa Bridge was the main venue of the "red-shirt" demonstration in March before it moved to the Ratchaprasong intersection, Bangkok's business zone, which led to the major crackdown on the "red-shirts" that killed 91 people.
Police will set up a front-line operation centre near the monument, Paiya said, adding that the Police were sure that they were capable of keeping the situation under control.
Police believed the red-shirts would disperse about 11 p.m. local time, he said.
Although the state of emergency, prohibiting gathering of more than five people, has been in place in Bangkok and surrounding provinces for several months, the "red-shirt" camp and its rival " yellow-shirts" have organized several rallies to protest against various issues.
