At least ten people were killed and over 80 others injured in a road accident that happened Monday morning on a national highway near Karachi, the largest city in southern Pakistan, local media reported.
The accident took place at about 9:00 a.m. local time on a national highway near Karachi when a bus carrying company employees and a bus carrying university students hit each other, causing a pile-up traffic accident which involved another two vehicles, the Urdu TV channel Duniya reported.
The casualties could have been much less if not due to the fact that a huge container carried by a trailer fell off and crashed upon one of the buses, said a traffic police.
According to the police, the two buses hitting each other respectively belong to a steel factory and an engineering university.
All the injured people have been shifted to the Jinnah hospital in Karachi city. Emergency has been declared in the hospital and doctors there asked the public for blood donations.
