China's top legislator Wu Bangguo said Wednesday that China would deepen mutually-beneficial cooperation with Thailand to achieve common development of both countries.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks while meeting with visiting Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The Thai princess is paying a visit to China from April 4 to 12, her 32nd China tour in the past years.
"You are an outstanding envoy of friendship for China-Thailand relationship," Wu told Sirindhorn, praising her efforts to promote people-to-people friendship and advance bilateral cooperation in areas like education, culture and technology.
Highlighting long-term and stable development of China-Thailand ties, Wu said that "China attaches great importance to strategic cooperation with Thailand."
Wu also conveyed his regards to King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Sirindhorn, who has strong interests in China's culture, said she would continue to make contribution to Thailand-China ties and bilateral reciprocal cooperation.
The Thai king and the royal family would consistently work for friendly ties with China, said Sirindhorn.
