The total death toll in the Thailand's southern floods has been confirmed at 59, the Interior Ministry's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Saturday.
Nakhon Si Thammarat suffered the most -- 26, followed by Surat Thani (12), Krabi (10), Phatthalung (5), Chumphon (3), Trang (2) and Phangnga (1), according to the department.
The floods continue in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Phatthalung and Trang. The water has receded in Phangnga, Krabi, Chumphon, Songkhla, Satun and Narathiwat, it said.
The flash floods and mudslides caused by heavy rainstorms hit severely several southern provinces since March 23.
As many as about 2,000,000 people from more than 600,000 households were affected and approximately 1.68 million rais of farmland submerged, according to the department.
