Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf announced Monday that a cabinet reshuffle will take place within one week in response to the people's demands in recent protests for more reforms.

In a televised address, Sharaf said he has assigned Interior Minister Masour Essawy to speed up the reshuffle of senior officials in the police forces before mid July and to dismiss those who were involved in crimes against protesters.

He also instructed Essawy to quickly restore security and order in the streets, and urged the Supreme Council of Justice to make all the trials of former government figures in public.

Sharaf declared comprehensive reforms for the press and media institutions and pledged to take charge of the social care funds for families of protestors who were killed during the unrest earlier this year.

He also declared that a reshuffle of governors that reflects the people's aspirations will take place before the end of this month.

He urged the Egyptian citizens to enable the Justice Ministry to achieve their tasks.

The prime minister's announcement came in response to the demands of protesters who continued their sit-in in central Cairo' s Tahrir Square for the fourth day. Their demands include speedy and public trials of former government officials and purging the police forces of those who are deemed to remain loyal to former President Hosni Mubarak.

Sharaf met numbers of youth activists Sunday to calm the protestors in the streets.
