Holders of three tickets that matched all 6 numbers in a lottery drawing in the United States are to split a record shattering 640 million dollars among them, according to a press release put out by lottery officials on Saturday.
The winning tickets of the Mega Millions lottery were sold in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland, and the winning numbers were 2-4-23- 38-46, with the Mega Ball number of 23.
With three winners, each ticket will be worth about 213.3 million. The winning Illinois ticket was sold at a Moto Mart in Red Bud. The winning Maryland ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven store in Baltimore county, and the winning Kansas ticket was sold in the northeastern part of the state, according to lottery officials.
The Mega Millions lottery was played in 42 states and the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. With the biggest jackpot in lottery's history in Friday's drawing, people all over the country lined up to buy tickets, spending some 1.5 billion dollars to beat the odds of one to 176 million.
