Following 8.9 earthquake that struck northern Sumatra on Wednesday, Sri Lanka's capital Colombo and several other parts of the island have reported earth tremor, according to officials.
"A tremor has been felt in many parts of the country including Western and Southern provinces following the earth quake in Indonesia," said a spokesman from the Meteorological Department.
Officials said a few high rise buildings in Colombo have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
