Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his Malaysian counterpart, Najib Razak, talked over phone Monday and agreed to further promote bilateral ties and cooperation.
Li congratulated Najib on his re-election as prime minister, saying that China-Malaysia relations now enjoy a great opportunity for further development.
Beijing, said the Chinese premier, is ready to enhance strategic communication with Malaysia and deepen two-way trade and investment cooperation.
China is also committed to boosting people-to-people exchanges with Malaysia and helping achieve new breakthroughs in key aspects of bilateral relations, so as to raise China-Malaysia ties to higher levels, Li added.
Meanwhile, China is willing to consolidate its mutually beneficial cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and push forward China-ASEAN relations, Li said.
For his part, Najib said the China-Malaysia relationship is of vital importance and the two countries have broad prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Malaysia hopes to continue to expand its friendly cooperation with China, and is willing to work together with China to further promote bilateral ties, Najib added.
